The 12th and final week of the 1995 edition of Deseret News Grid Picks came down to nail-biting time for the judges.

It was appearing that there may be a four-way tie for first, but then Tom Stewart's entry was corrected and unbelievably, he predicted all 12 games correctly and picked, you guessed it, Utah 34 and BYU 17.Stewart, of West Valley City, is the top weekly winner with no one else even close.

Stewart also was the top weekly winner for games on Nov. 4, picking all 12 correctly that week as well. Thus, with his two bonus points accumulated each time he was the top weekly winner, Tom Stewart appears to be the winner of the grand prize with a total of 28 points.

For last week's efforts, Stewart wins $100, a Grid Picks T-shirt and the two bonus points.

Joining Stewart as runners-up were all seven entries picking 10 games correctly (no other entries came in with 11s or 12s). These individuals are: Walter Root, Salt Lake; Steven Paxton, Bountiful; Bret Ball, Alpine: Patti Emery, Salt Lake; Laurie Christensen, Logan; Robert Young, Salt Lake, and Kelly Martin; Salt Lake.

In order to determine the final three runners-up the tie-breaker formula was figured and the three who squeaked into the runners'-up column are: Sue Solace, Sandy, tiebreaker of 6; Charles Baird, Bountiful 7, and Holly Frischknecht, Centerville 8.

All runners-up receive the T-shirt and prizes will be mailed to the winners.

A more complete story on the grand prize winner and those who almost made it will appear in the near future.

The contest is concluded for this year. In the words of Deseret News marketing director Steve Handy, "Thanks for playing and reading the Deseret News. See you next year."
