With the reliability of a sunset, we see the national commercial news/entertainment media gearing up for the presidential elections. In typical style, they are pushing their fear-mongering, conflict-promoting, sensationalizing tactics to ever greater depths.
If studies I have read are correct, the blatantly biased reporting we constantly see is not the result of any organized conspiracy. Rather it is the natural result of an amazingly disproportionate number of people with a liberal mindset who have managed to gain control of virtually all national news organizations, from news-wire services such as the AP to news personnel on all of the major TV networks.Ideally, every report would consist of nothing but objective facts, without the reporter's opinion or speculation that is now an increasingly significant part of "news" stories. This more objective reporting is the hallmark of the noncommercial McNeil/Lehrer news program on PBS.
Perhaps biased reporting, liberal or conservative, is unavoidable given the nature of most people. So if we can't manage to have truly objective reporting, perhaps we could at least have a more balanced set of biases. What a sad alternative.
