The cost of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is high for most Utahns this year, but the traditional meal is still an excellent buy, the Utah Farm Bureau Federation reports.

The average cost of the meal for 10 people will be $27.47, which is higher by $2.92 than last year, according to Reed Balls, the bureau's vice president-member relations. He conducted the organization's annual survey of Thanksgiving meal retail prices. That total breaks down to a cost of $2.75 per person for a meal of turkey, stuffing, sweet and mashed potatoes, peas, a relish dish of carrots, celery and onions, rolls, cranberries, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

UFB President Ken Ashby said the meal is a great value. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to celebrate with family and friends, and it also is a good time to remember Utah's rich agricultural heritage, he said.
