Prior to his new post, Jackson was manager of DOPL's professional recovery program. With the appointment, Jackson replaces David Robinson, who was DOPL director for nine years until he was fired Oct. 31 for "a change in direction" and as part of a new division philosophy, Borba said at the time of the firing.

At Tuesday's appointment, Borba said Jackson is "an individual with unquestioned integrity and a broad range of both private-sector experience and public service."

"He understands the need for a balance between regulation and communication within our professional communities," Borba said.
