If you see lights in the skies of western Davis County Friday night, it's not a store's grand opening or a stunt. It's fireworks to celebrate Syracuse's 100th birthday.

A special buffet at City Hall will start the Friday celebration at 5 p.m., followed by a dedication of the new Joseph Holbrook Centennial Park at 6 p.m.Although the new park is just northeast of the new City Hall, 1787 S. 2000 West, the ceremony will begin at Syracuse Junior High, 1450 S. 2000 West.

At 7 p.m., the annual Christmas sing-a-long will be held. Santa Claus will lead a walk to the new park at 8:15 p.m. for a holiday lighting ceremony, followed by fireworks at 8:30 p.m..
