The Boldin triplets are finally reunited. Sisters Bernita and Berneta were born just over three weeks after their brother, Kenard.
The girls were delivered by emergency Caesarean section at Good Samaritan Medical Center on Friday. Bernita weighed 1 pound 13 ounces, and Berneta, 1 pound 15 ounces.Delvonda Boldin's triplets weren't due until March, but she went into labor and delivered Kenard on Thanksgiving Day. He weighed 1 pound, 5 ounces.
"I think the girls got mad at the boy and kicked him out," said Boldin, who checked out of the hospital Monday. "Then the girls wanted to find out what they were missing, so they came into the world, too."
Doctors gave Boldin medication to stop her contractions and stitched her cervix to allow the two remaining babies to remain in the womb so they could continue to develop.
Babies in a multiple pregnancy have been born at separate times, but this is the first case in which all three babies survived, said Dr. Anne Graham, a neonatologist at Good Samaritan.
The triplets were listed in critical but stable condition at the hospital, where they will probably remain until March.
