A Salt Lake man was arrested Monday for allegedly impersonating a police officer when he put a flashing red light atop his vehicle and pulled over another car.

The man, 27, allegedly pointed at another driver and motioned for him to pull over with the red light flashing near 2300 East and 3400 South. After the car pulled over, the man said he was a police officer and blocked the car from leaving. When a Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy confronted him at his home, the man at first denied it. But he later told the officer that he was a former police officer, according to sheriff's reports.
