Hyrum ValGene Yorgason, age 89, died Monday, December 18, 1995 following an extended illness.
He was born in Fountain Green, Utah on September 12, 1906 to Hyrum Vincent Yorgason and Ida Pernella Anderson. After graduating from high school in Moroni, Utah, he moved to Salt Lake City to attend LDS Business College. He married Agnes Bennett on November 18, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple.He was a High Priest in the LDS Church serving as a ward clerk for 30 years and a Salt Lake Temple worker for 14 years. He was employed by the Utah State Road Commission and later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years where he retired in 1972.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and also loved spending time in his garden, starting in the early spring, and most enjoyed sharing what he grew with friends and neighbor. His greatest love and concern was for his family.
He is survived by his wife, their three children, Alan (and Jannette) Yorgason, Carol Carr, and Brenda (and Stan) LeCheminant; seven grandchildren. His two brothers, Gayle and Forrest, also survive him. A brother, Delbert, a sister, Victoria Rasmussen, and son-in-law, H. John Riet, preceded him in death.
The family expresses gratitude to the caring staff at Community Nursing Service and all others who have rendered assistance for the past several years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 1995 at 12 noon at the Ensign 1st Ward Chapel, 9th Avenue and D Street. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 1995 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and at the ward from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday prior to services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
