Joseph Lynn Welch, 76, passed away December 18, 1995 at his home in Alta View Estates, of a massive heart attack, just two days short of his 77th birthday.
Born December 20, 1918 in Cowley, Wyoming, the third child of eight to be born to Charles Josiah and Sarah Jane Baird Welch. He married Elaine Holt on December 6, 1939, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved working with children and spent 40 years working with the Scouting program in several different positions. He was part owner along with his father and brothers in Welch Planing Mill for 40 years and owner and partner of Welch Fun Cars for 17 years. He was a fireman for 35 years and a councilman in Midvale for two terms. President of Alta View Estates for four years, in between traveling with the snowbirds to Arizona for the winters.Survived by his loving wife of 56 years; children, Pamela Ugstad (Doug), West Jordan; Adelbert Welch (Brenda), Sandy; Elaine Ridgley (Keith) Stanford, Washington; Jolene Stahl (Gary), West Valley City; Donald Welch (Laurie), Murray; 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eloise Douglas (Cecil), Riverton; sisters-in-law, Weldra, Dorthy and Marion Welch; close family friend, Brent Hogenson. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Tom, Eldon, Vern, and three infant brothers, one granddaughter, CoyLynne Hogenson and one great-grandaughter, Amber Lee Welch.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 12 noon at the Crescent 16th Ward, 251 East 10600 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the ward one hour prior. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
