Louise Ball Ellis, wife of former Deseret News political editor, Dexter C. Ellis, died Wednesday, February 8, 1995 of fast-spreading cancer. She was 80 years old.

Louise was born September 30, 1914 in Coalville, Utah to George H. and Violet Nielsen Ball.They lived for short periods in Devil's Slide, Wilson's Lane and Magna before settling in Ogden. She was educated in Ogden City schools and was a lifelong worker in the LDS Church, serving in many positions, including Relief Society President.

Louise and Dexter were married in 1933 in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

They were the parents of seven children, all of whom survive: Karen Dall, Brett Ellis, Kirk Ellis and Nikole Timothy, all of the Salt Lake area; Kent Ellis, Layton; Barry Ellis, Provo and Kraig Ellis, San Diego, California. Louise is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Gwen Frandsen and James Ball, both of Ogden; Jack Ball, Layton. In addition, she is survived by 34 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 1995 at 12 noon in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
