The City Council is studying whether semitrailer trucks should be allowed to park along Main Street (U-126) in a possible review of all city parking ordinances.

Mayor Carol Bellmon and several council members feel the trucks not only are unsightly but may also create safety problems on Sunset's busiest street. However, at least two other council members feel the truckers have nowhere else to park and their impact is minimal compared to other parking problems.

Scott Mikesell, councilman, doesn't believe trucks are a problem but that vehicles parked across city sidewalks are.
