Two spring tours explore the gardens, historic houses and musical traditions of New Orleans and its environs.

"Springtime in New Orleans and the Louisiana Plantation Country" is sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Participants will dine on Creole and Cajun cuisine, hear gospel and jazz music, and visit historic houses, plantations and gardens from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and New Iberia, La. The tour lasts nine days, from March 22 to 30, and costs $2,497, including hotels and almost all meals but not air fare.The 92d Street Y in New York City is offering a package to coincide with the second weekend of the 26th annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, to be held from April 28 to May 7 at the Fair Grounds race track and various other places around the city.

This tour, from May 4 to 8, costs $999 and includes performances at the Fair Grounds, a double room at Le Meridien Hotel, round-trip air fare from New York and guided tours of various sites.
