Gov. Mike Leavitt has named Constance B. White - until now the executive director of the Utah Department of Commerce - to be a member of the Public Service Commission.

Before she can take her place on the commission, she must be confirmed by the Utah Senate. White replaces James Byrne, who served as commissioner for 13 years."Connie White will make an outstanding contribution to the citizens of this state as a public service commissioner," said Leavitt. "I have been very impressed by her good judgment on tough issues."

White will be one of three commissioners on the board, which is charged with regulating utilities. Each commissioner serves a six-year term.
