Each year the Utah State Historical Society recognizes significant contributions to Utah history at an annual awards program and is seeking nominations for this year.

Nominations for the awards should be submitted in writing to Mary Peach, Utah State Historical Society, 300 Rio Grande, Salt Lake City, UT 84101-1182. The written nomination should not exceed one page. Deadline for submission is May 12. The awards will be presented July 13 at the society's annual awards program.The award nominations are for the following:

- Antiquities Award for outstanding archaeological or paleontological research and pres-er-va-tion in Utah.

- Historic Preservation Award for outstanding service to the cause of historic preservation.

- Honorary Life Member for distinguished service to the state and to the Utah State Historical Society. Recipient receives lifetime membership in the Utah State Historical Society.

- Service Award for outstanding service to the Utah State Historical Society and to Utah history.

- Richard D. and Emogene Poll Teacher Award for outstanding service to Utah history in the field of education. Recipient receives $150 provided by the family of the late Dr. and Mrs. Richard D. Poll.

- Utah Heritage Award for outstanding work or service in preserving and/or demonstrating traditions, skills, crafts and talents depicting a sense of Utah's heritage.

- Utah Military History Award for the best published article, book or manuscript on ay aspect of military history in Utah or other contribution to the understanding and preservation of Utah's military history. Recipients receive $200 from an endowment donated from Amy Allen Price.

- Utah History Media Award for the best media presentation on any aspect of Utah history produce during the previous year.

All of the awards come with a certificate.
