With acceptance and faith in the Lord's plan, Marlene Julia Garnham, 48, departed this life on February 18, 1995 in her sister's arms of cancer.

Marlene was born September 5, 1946, in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England, the only child of Walter Jack and Freda Dubach Garnham. The family sailed to America when she was five years old. Her father survives her.A gentle and loving spirit, Marlene built a positive life with the talents, gifts and experiences which she was blessed. She loved planting and harvesting the garden, genealogy and her "dead guys," knitting and stitchery, old movies and comedies, the mountains, camping, and traveling. Her magnificent obsession was to show concern and kindness to all she knew.

Active all her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she magnified each calling she was given. Her life was a living testimony of her faith and beliefs.

Marlene worked 28 years of the Utah State Tax Commission and held many positions of challenge and leadership. She was a dedicated employee and solved problems as they were presented.

Marlene is also survived by her adopted family who have loved her as one of their own: Elithe W. Doxey, Michal Cottrell, Sharlee Doxey, Helen and Clair Rogers, Mark and Debbie Doxey, Rick and Kristine Kiholm, Gretel Doxey, Carl and MaryAnn Shoff, Jonathan and Becky Doxey, Jared and Jena Crapo, David and Molly Dean; 53 nieces and nepehew also loved her as their aunt.

Some heartaches just can never by explained

And no caring words can take away the pain,

And just one saving thought remains;

There is eternity to know the reason why

Just hold on through all the hopeleness you feel,

There is no earthly sorrow heaven cannot heal.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon at the Crescent Park 4th Ward, 10885 South Pampas Way (835 East), Sandy. Friends may call Tuesday, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, so those whose lives she touched may bid her farewell. Also, at the church Wednesday, 11-11:40 a.m. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
