Where did our current state budget surplus come from, anyway? Much of it has come from the influx of people and the resulting construction. As such, can we count on it continuing when the economy slows down? No!

Should we use it to fund the elimination of the school property tax, a reliable, steady tax source for the nation's most underfunded schools? What will happen to our schools if we do this and then surpluses do not continue? Our schools will be left completely high and dry. These one-time surpluses should be spent on what this growth is impacting the most, our schools and our road system. Use these surpluses to build schools and roads.
