Cartoons John Lennon doodled at school are expected to fetch $23,690-$31,590 each at a sale of rock and pop memorabilia, London auction house Bonhams said Wednesday.

"The drawings of cartoon characters adorn two pages of an exercise book, and clearly demonstrate Lennon's early artistic talent," Bonhams said.But a unique tape recording of Lennon working out the initial stages of the Beatles' classic "Strawberry Fields Forever" in the studio is expected to fetch only $947-$1,264, it said.

Star items in the sale, which lasts from March 21 to March 23, include a Fender Stratocaster guitar autographed by its former owner Bob Dylan, a private collection of Jimi Hendrix's clothing and jewelry, and seven pairs of Elton John's 1970s platform boots.
