Rep. Bill Orton, D-Utah, checked some unusual baggage this week: a huge rack of elk antlers, 4 feet high and 4 feet wide with six points on each side.

He hopes it will help other lawmakers get the "point" about Western issues."I want to show some of my colleagues exactly how big these animals are."

Orton is a hunter but didn't shoot the elk. "A buddy of mine did. But it's been at my house for several years. His friend didn't have room for it."

But Orton did - on a wall over a large painting of an elk on a mountain. The antlers should go well with the other decor in his office, including a stuffed 20-pound-plus Alaskan salmon that he reeled in with a small pole and thin, four-pound test line.

"That's my big fish wall," he said, pointing at the salmon and the pictures above it. "That's me with Presidents Bush and Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin" - all big fish.
