Auditions have been scheduled for the following productions:

- "A . . . MY NAME IS STILL ALICE," on Sunday, March 5, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts at Westminster College, 1250 E. 1700 South.There are roles for three or four women, capable of playing a variety of characters of different ages and cultural backgrounds. Be prepared to sing two contrasting songs (an accompanist will be provided). There will also be cold readings from the script.

The auditions will be held in the complex's rehearsal room, located at the north end of the building. Rehearsals will begin about April 13, with performances scheduled for Thursdays-Sundays, May 25-June 17.

Barb Gandy is directing the TheatreWorks West production, with Jeff Price as musical director.

The musical revue is a sequel to the immensely popular "A . . . My Name is Alice." Both were written by Joan Micklin Silver and Juli-anne Boyd. The tone is feminist, funny and often touching. The show is written in vignette style with a mix of songs, monologues and ensemble scenes.

- STAGESTOP THEATRE will hold auditions for its entirelineup of summer musicals on Tuesday, March 7, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the theater (3585 W. Bigler Road, Collinston).

The StageStop is mounting two musicals on its mainstage and two more in the Sherwood Hills amphitheater.

Productions are: "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," June 16-July 22, and "Pump Boys and Dinettes," July 28-Sept. 9, both at Sherwood Hills, and "Singin' in the Rain," June 9-July 29, and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," Aug. 4-Sept. 23, both at the StageStop Theatre.

All auditioners will be required to do cold readings from the scripts and sing 32 bars from a Broadway showtune. A short dance combination will also be taught during the audition.

Performers from 16 to 60 are required to fill roles in all four shows.

The StageStop Theatre is located between Logan and Tremonton. Sherwood Hills is located in Sardine Canyon, between Logan and Brigham City. All four shows will play Thursdays-Saturdays, with additional Monday performances for the StageStop productions.

- "GUNMETAL BLUES," on Saturday, March 11, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Sunday, March 12, from 10 a.m. until noon, at Salt Lake Acting Company.

There are roles for two men and one woman. One man, a baritone, should be 30 to 45 years of age. The other, with a range of baritone to second tenor, 30-55 years of age, must be able to play the piano (at least "musical accompanist" level). The woman, 25-40 years of age, must have a good vocal range and be able to play multiple roles.

Richard Jewkes is directing the piece, which will replace "Death and the Maiden" in the Upstairs Theatre in the May 6-June 4 time slot.

- "I OUGHT TO BE IN PICTURES," on March 7 at 3 p.m. in the Graff Arena Theatre at Dixie College, St. George.ds

Adults in their middle years are encouraged to audition for the spring production, scheduled April 18-22 at Dixie College.

There will be cold readings from the script. Cast members chosen for the show will be required to register for one credit through the college's "three credits or less" program.

- "MOVIE OF THE CENTURY" (working title) is an all-new musical production being mounted this summer at Promised Valley Playhouse to commemorate Utah's centennial.

Auditions will be Saturday, March 11, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Ventura Media Center, 1240 E. 800 North (the former Osmond Studios).

The production was written by Doug Cardon, with music by Sam Cardon and Kurt Bestor. It will be directed and choreographed by David Tinney.

There are roles available for seven men and five women, ages 18-60; two children, 8-12 years of age; and four dancers.

Vocalists should be prepared to sing two songs from a popular or "musical theater" genre. An accompanist will be provided. A short dance combinationwill be taught.

There will also be a separate dance audition.

All positions will be paid and all performers will be playing multiple roles.

Rehearsals will be May 8-June 22 and the production is scheduled to play June 23-Sept. 2.

- THE UTAH MUSICAL THEATRE SEASON on Friday, March 10, and Monday, March 13, by appointment ONLY, in the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts at Weber State University, Ogden.

An ensemble of 22 actors and actresses are needed for the three mainstage UMT productions of "Oliver" (June 30-July 15), "She Loves Me" (July 21-Aug. 5) and "Guys and Dolls" (Aug. 11-26, plus four additional male actors will be needed for the Monson Theatre production of "Forever Plaid," running July 7-Aug. 19.

A separate children's audition will be held at a later date. Those under 17 will be welcome to audition at that time.

The 5-minute audition should include two contrasting vocal selections and one monologue. An accompanist will be provided. A dance piece is optional.

Current resumes, headshots, and the names and telephone numbers of three references will be needed at the time of the auditon.

- "THE TAFFETAS," a sendup of female rock groups of the 1950s and '60s, on Friday, March 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. in room W-181 of Salt Lake Community College's South City campus, 1575 S. State St., and on Saturday, March 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St., Park City.

Toni Lynn Byrd is directing the Park City Performances production, scheduled to run June 16-July 29. "The Taffetas" is a companion piece to "The Cardigans," which PCP produced last summer.

There are roles for four women. Auditioners will be asked to perform two contrasting songs (a ballad an an upbeat song). There will also be cold readings from the script.
