With less than three minutes to go before her team would be knocked out of state title contention, Richfield's Melissa Penney made the most of her team's championship dreams.

Penney led the Wildcats in a desparation comeback against fourth-ranked Dixie by scoring 19 of her 22 points in the final quarter. Down by 10 at the 3:00 mark, Richfield fell just short in a 53-52 loss to the Flyers."Penney just went ballistic hitting shots 10 feet from behind the three-point stripe," Dixie coach Burt Myers said after his team held on for the win. "Our defense kind of collapsed. It was kind of scary."

Dixie sophomore Rachel Konold came off the bench for injured senior Brittany Boothe, and led all scorers with 29 points from the forward position.

The Flyers hit two free throws with 10 seconds left on the clock to seal the game. Dixie now advances to meet Union in the semifinal today at 1 p.m.
