He vowed to work 'til the day they nailed the lid shut', and he did just that, suffering a heart attack at his place of business at the age of 79. `Dirty Jim' "putted out" on March 1, 1995, leaving the rest of us to finish the game.
Born on March 8th, 1915 in Devils Slide, Utah to James Ellis and Edna Tanner Young. Married Adelaide `Toots' Holmes, October 1st, 1938. They are the parents of five children, Sharon (Ron) Young, Suzanne (Steve) Harris, Janice (Parley) McKinnon, Jim, Jr. (his business partner, Deanna), and Kevin, who preceded him in death.Jim was the owner/operator of Jim Young's Safety Service for 56 years. Was a past president of the Utah Petroleum Dealers Association. Through his business, he participated in and sponsored many sports--Midget and Stock Car Racing, Softball, and Bowling. In recognition to his dedication and contributions to bowling, Jim was inducted into the SLCBA Hall of Fame, an honor he cherished and richly deserved.
To the infamous `Dirty Dozen', his golfing budds, keep on swinging and keep on your toes, he will be watching over and keeping score. He truly loved you guys.

Survived by family members listed above, sisters; Maurine Morrison and Florence Abbott, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Kevin, brother, Lloyd, sisters, Bernice and Donna, and four grandchildren.
Per his wishes, graveside services will be held Monday, March 6, at 12, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests that donations be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
