Unlike the boys portion of the 2A state basketball championship, the first round of the girls tournament went according to schedule Thursday at the Dixie Center.
The top-four ranked teams advanced to today's semifinal action, including No. 1 ranked Beaver. The Beavers used the scoring attack of Sunny Myers to help them power past fifth-ranked Juab 71-32.Myers scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the first half as Beaver jumped out to a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The win set up a semifinal showdown with third-ranked South Summit. The Wildcats posted a 57-44 victory over Juab in the last game of the first round.

Millard 31, North Sevier 28
The second-ranked Eagles survived a scare by squeaking out a win over the Wolves. Cynthia Olson led all scorers with 20 points for Millard, but her two free throws in the final minute sealed the victory for the Eagles.
San Juan 69, Morgan 53
Trailing by three points after the first quarter, the fourth-ranked Broncos pulled out all the stops and cruised to a first round win over the Trojans. Amber Halls scored 27 points to lead the offensive attack for San Juan, which pulled away in the final eight minutes with a 25-11 fourth quarter output.
South Summit 57, Kanab 44
The third-ranked Wildcats pounced to an early 20-7 lead and coasted to a victory over the Cowboys. Julie Blazzard and Tanya Woolstenhulme combined for 29 points for South Summit, while Carie Crosbie had 16 for Kanab.
