Stolen trucks and a complicated web of alleged gang ties landed two Delta men and a West Valley teen in the Millard County Jail this week.
Investigators have linked an 18-year-old West Valley man and two Millard County men, ages 20 and 18, to two incidents of vehicle theft and a separate case of criminal mischief."All of them are well-known or affiliated with gangs in the Salt Lake area," Millard County detective John Kimball said. "We've lived down here gang-free, per se. It's upsetting to even have them start infiltrating our small towns."
The two Delta men recently moved to Millard County from the West Valley area.
"They've been up here (in the Salt Lake area) enough to be known," a Salt Lake County detective confirmed. The men allegedly have ties to a west-side gang, the detective said.
A truck stolen in West Valley City was found in Delta Jan. 21, Kimball said. One day earlier, an extended-cab pickup truck was taken from Droubay Chevrolet in Delta. The truck was found in a West Valley parking lot, 3613 S. 1985 West, on Jan. 22, Kimball said.
One month later, two used Chevy Blazers were stolen from Sahara Motors in Delta and two other trucks vandalized at the Droubay dealership.
"They would break a window and then bust the key mechanism and away they went," said Millard County Sheriff Ed Phillips.
