Lobos outhit Cougs 12-11
ALBUQUERQUE - Though the Cougars scored 11 runs off of 13 hits against the University of New Mexico on Friday, it wasn't enough as the Lobos edged the Cougars 12-11.
Eric McDowell lead the Cougars in offense with his three runs, two hits, and two RBI's. Teammate Brad Wingot also helped the offense with his home run, three hits and two RBI's.
The two teams play a noon doubleheader today.
Golfers in Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. - The BYU men's golf team is in action Monday and Tuesday at the Oregon Duck Invitational.
The first 36 holes are at the Eugene Country Club and the final 18 are at Emerald Valley.
Freshman Scott Miller, who played at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in January, had the best qualifying rounds for the team and will join senior Brodie Berg, sophomore Joe Summerhays and juniors Todd Pence and Lonnie Damon.
Tennis team triumphs
BYU's No. 20 women's tennis team blasted No. 22 Northwestern
Friday 5-3 at the BYU Indoor Courts.
Senior Cherie Kaneshiro led the Cougars with a No. 1 singles victory over Northwestern's Siri Eklund, who is ranked No. 86 nationally.
In other singles action, Angela Nelson and Adrien Alder had critical individual wins for the Cougars.
BYU meets University of Miami at 1 p.m. today in Provo.
Y. women lead WAC
LAS VEGAS - BYU's women's swimming and diving team finished first in four events, setting WAC records in two, as the Cougars improved their first-place point total to 412 in the WAC Swimming and Diving Championships Friday.
Colorado State is still the closest competitor with 357 points, followed by Fresno State with 254 points and Utah with 161 points.
BYU's Nicole Collard, won the title and set a WAC record in the 200 free (1:50.48).
BYU's 800 free relay team - composed of Collard, Cherrill Haws Celeste Belliston, and Katie Willis - also finished first in the finals and set a WAC record (7:32.84).
The competition concludes today.

Majerus to speak
A University of Utah Crimson Club basketball luncheon will be held Monday at noon at the University Park Hotel. Ute coach Rick Majerus will be the speaker. The luncheon is open to the public.
U. swimmers in front
LAS VEGAS - The University of Utah men's swimming and diving team posted a narrow lead following second-day competition of the WAC campionships. Utah leads with a 336 score, followed by BYU, 324, and New Mexico, 200.
The University of Utah men's swimming a diving team, competing in the WAC Championship at Las Vegas, Nevada have widened their narrow gap for first place to 12 over Brigham Young in the second day of competition. The men's score as of day two is 336 compared to second place Brigham Young's 324 while the next closest team is New Mexico with 200.
Magnus Ronnewall and Cory Sinclair had productive days capturing first in the 200 free and the 100 back. The Ute 200 medely relay also finished first.
Weber State
Golfers open season
Weber State's women's golf team opens its spring season on Monday and Tuesday at the Jones Sports Utah/Dixie Classic.
The 54-hole tournament will be in St. George at the Sunbrook Golf Course, with 36 holes Monday and the final 18 Tuesday.
