Toquerville Town Councilman Paul A. Millet was arrested at his home on drug charges this week, following a four-month investigation by the Washington County sheriff`s office.
Millet, 42, a former Springdale town manager and a board member of a county special service district, was booked into the county jail Wednesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is free on $5,300 bail.
A confidential informant's report of alleged drug dealing at Millet's Toquerville home led to the issuance of a search warrant, deputy sheriff Lorin Orvin said.
Also taken into custody at the home was 29-year-old Christopher Cannistraci, who was reportedly renting a room from Millet. Cannistraci was charged with intent to distribute less than a quarter-ounce of methamphetamine as well as possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He has been released on $10,300 bail.
Millet and Cannistraci will be arraigned in 5th District Court on Monday.
Orvin said Millet's wife, Debbie, was cited and released for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
The councilman denies charges against him.
"All of these allegations are yet to be proved," Millet said. "I don't have a vendetta against anybody, but it appears that somebody has got one against me."
