Members of the Greek Orthodox Church will hold a group of events this weekend:

- The annual Mardi-Gras celebration tonight at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 279 S. 300 West. Dinner and entertainment will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a talent show. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children and are available at the door.- The Greek-American community will gather on Sunday, March 5, to celebrate Greek Independence Day at 5 p.m. in the Hellenic Memorial Building. The program will include dinner, a presentation by the children of the parish Greek Language School, and a speech by Loucas Tsilas, Greek ambassador to the United States. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children.

- A service commemorating the beginning of Lent will be held Sunday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 279 S. 300 West, and on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Prophet Elias Church, 5335 Highland Drive.
