And [some] will [the devil] pacify and lead them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well - and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.
And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none - and thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance. - 2 Ne. 28:21-22"Perhaps worse than sin is the denial of sin. If we deny that we are sinners, how can we ever be forgiven?" Elder James E. Faust of the Council of the Twelve asked at the April 1991 general conference. "How can the atonement of Jesus work in our lives if there is no repentance? If we do not promptly remove the slivers of sin and the thorns of carnal temptation, how can the Lord ever heal our souls?"
