Norma Anderson Sheffield, 80, died Friday, March 3, 1995 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden of causes incident to cancer.
She was born March 19, 1914 in Plain City, Utah to Jens Alma and Cora Edna McEntire Anderson. She was raised and educated in Riverdale, Utah. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1932 at Weber High School. She received an Associate of Arts degree from Weber College. She also attended Brigham Young University.On June 23, 1937, she married E. Gayle Sheffield Sr., in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Riverdale and Roy, Utah for 55 years.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, and lived in the Sandridge Ward. She served in many church positions, including Primary President and worker, in the stake and ward Young Womens Organization, ward Relief Society President and worker, and stake Relief Society Counselor. With her husband, she served as an Ogden Temple worker and also as a missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City North Mission. She was also dedicated to serving her community as an election registrar and judge for many years.
She is survived by her husband, E. Gayle, of Roy; seven sons and four daughters: Evan G. (Gail) Sheffield Jr., Lake Oswego, Oregon; Stephan A. (Cheryl) Sheffield, Bosque Farms, New Mexico; Barbara S. (Robert) George, Lakewood, Colorado; Suzanne S. (Steven) Tanner, Bountiful; Linda S. (Paul) Dunn, Burke, Virginia; Douglas K. (Alene) Sheffield, Kaysville; David C. Sheffield, Salt Lake City; Jeffrey C. Sheffield, Salt Lake; Joel A. (Terry) Sheffield, Kaysville; Richard J. (Anita) Sheffield, Gilbert, Arizona; Nancy S. (Michael) Watkins, Gilbert, Arizona; 47 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 1995 at Sandridge Ward Chapel, 4900 So. 2000 West, Roy, Utah, with Bishop Samuel Ramsey officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary at 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
The family wishes to give special thanks to those who have cared for her over the last few years, especially Dr. Ross J. Kelson.
