Reggie Ingram scored a career-high 28 points Saturday as Southern Utah routed Sacramento State 89-55 to remain unbeaten in the American West Conference.
The defeat was Sacramento State's worst home loss since at least the 1977-78 season when the school began keeping complete records.Sacramento State (6-20, 2-4 American West) had problems holding onto the ball, committing 24 turnovers and found itself behind early, shooting just 29 percent from the field in the first half to trail 45-20.
The Thunderbirds (14-11, 5-0 American West) jumped out to a 14-2 lead and never let Sacramento State threaten. Southern Utah took a 28-point lead with a minute left in the half when Ingram drained a 3-pointer and Keith Berard sank two free throws.
Southern Utah extended its lead to as much as 81-43 when Vic Saunders completed a three-point play with 7:15 remaining.
Abie Ramirez and Deon Amos had 11 points and seven rebounds apiece to lead the Hornets.
