James `Mitch' Clyde Mitchell, age 62, passed away Saturday, March 4, 1995, at his home in Salt Lake City after a courageous battle for his life with cancer.

He was born August 28, 1932, in Parowan, Utah to John Sprouse and Olive Lee Moore Mitchell.Jim was raised in Parowan and graduated from Parowan High School in 1950. He married Betty Davenport on September 24, 1952, in Parowan, Utah. They were married for 24 years. He later married Chris-ee Gelino on January 31, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1955, where he then entered and worked for the Utah Air National Guard as a flight engineer and flight crew chief and was a master sergeant until his retirement on September 3, 1987, with 35 years of dedicated service to his country.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a love for horses, flying, sailing, fishing, building full-detailed model ships, and life itself. His humor and laughter will be missed by all, and he will never by forgotten. He will be most missed by his little buddy, Kimo, his dog.

Survivors include his wife, Chris-ee Mitchell of Salt Lake; daughters, Karen Ketcher, Pat (Neil) Petrick, Diane Bertelsen, Nichole Fry; sons, Curtis (Christie) Mitchell, and Greg Mitchell, all of Salt Lake; sisters, Audine (Harold) Rogerson of Provo and Vanda (Stan) Oldroyd of Farmington, New Mexico; brother, Gerald (Barbara) Mitchell of Salt Lake; a sister-in-law, Elma Mitchell of Pasadena, Texas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers, Frazier Mitchell and John Preston Mitchell, and a granddaughter, Rachel Branch.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 8, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Estates Chapel, 6500 South Redwood Road. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Memorial Estates where Military Rites will be accorded. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Berg Mortuary of Provo.
