Bountiful
In its meeting Wednesday, the City Council:
- Approved a final site plan for a fourplex at 112-118 E. Wicker Lane. The Planning and Zoning Commission had earlier approved the plan under protest from nearby residents, who said the fourplex would bring too much traffic to the area. No resident besides the developer, however, attended the City Council meeting and the proposal sailed through.
- Tabled a decision on when to set a public hearing on a proposed rezoning of property at 2280 S. Orchard Drive from residential to commercial. Applicant Kent Winegar, general manager of Dick's Markets, wants to build a new store at that address, but he decided he wants more time to meet with doubtful residents of the area before the public hearing is held.
- Voted down a proposal to rename Lorien Court, a street in the Stoneridge subdivision. Resident Kent Derricott wanted the name to be Rivendell Court, the name of an elvish retreat in J.R.R. Tolkien's books "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings."
