She's a woman of many words, but poet Maya Angelou won't have anything to say at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan., this year.
Angelou has decided not to reschedule a sold-out appearance that was first planned for Nov. 14.Angelou, who read at the inauguration of President Clinton in 1993, postponed that reading after the anti-gay pastor of a local church and several followers taunted her the previous night in Topeka.
Angelou's agents cited scheduling conflicts in declining the invitation, said Paul Putman, Emporia State's assistant director of student organizations and activities.
