The Utah Office of Museum Services has issued 15 grants totaling $42,439 to help museums statewide. There are two types of grants: those for projects and and those for technical assistance.

Eligible applications were reviewed by a nine-member panel selected from Utah's museums as well as individuals in education, tourism and economic development.Grants range from about $500 to $5,000.

Beneficiaries of this latest round of grants are museums in Fairview, Blanding, Cedar City, Salt Lake City, Hurricane, Logan, Ogden and Bountiful.

"Utah's museums are treasure chests of our past heritage, hope for the future, our creativity and our culture," said Carol Nixon, director of the Division of Community Development, which oversees the Office of Museum Services.
