Floyd wins Senior Slam
LOS CABOS, Mexico - Raymond Floyd shot a 5-under-par 67 for a six-stroke victory over Dave Stockton in the four-man Senior Slam.
Floyd, who earned $250,000, had a two-day total of 5-under 139 on Cabo del Sol's ocean course. Stockton closed with a 75 to earn $125,000. Simon Hobday was eight back and Lee Trevino finished 16 back.

Phoenix, Tampa likely to get baseball
PALM BEACH, Fla. - Phoenix and Tampa Bay were recommended for major league franchises by the expansion committee, The Associated Press learned.
Baseball officials didn't announce the decision, but two members of the committee, speaking on the condition they not be identified, confirmed the choices. Orlando and two northern Virginia groups also were seeking franchises.
The teams would start play in 1998 if owners approve the recommendation. The pricetag is likely to be $140 million apiece and the teams are expected to named the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Strike talks may resume Monday
PALM BEACH, Fla. - Strike negotiations could resume as early as Monday, Colorado Rockies chairman Jerry McMorris said.
McMorris, arriving for the owners' three-day meeting, said he thought progress was made during last week's talks at Scottsdale, Ariz.
Haley will play another year
IRVING, Texas - All-pro defensive end Charles Haley, who said he was retiring after the Dallas Cowboys' loss to San Francisco in the NFC championship game, now plans to play another season.
Anderson signs with Colts
INDIANAPOLIS - Wide receiver Flipper Anderson joined the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent, signing a five-year contract reportedly worth $8.5 million, including a $2 million bonus. Anderson, 30, had 259 receptions for 5,246 yards and 26 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

SAN DIEGO - John Bertrand's oneAustralia, which lost its top sailboat Sunday during a Pacific Ocean storm, returned to the America's Cup trials and beat rival Sydney 95 by 1 minute, 54 seconds.
On the defender course, Kevin Mahaney's Young America beat Dennis Conner's Stars & Stripes for its second straight victory. Mahaney leads Conner 46-32, with the America3 women's team third with 21.
Knicks' Smith put on injured reserve
NEW YORK - The New York Knicks forward Charles Smith, sidelined with a sprained knee, was placed on the injured list Tuesday.
Smith, averaging 13.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 55 games, was injured in the Knicks' loss at Orlando on Feb. 28.
Jonrowe, Cotter lead Iditarod
NIKOLAI, Alaska - Front-runners DeeDee Jonrowe and Bill Cotter left this Interior village at the same time Tuesday, followed within 30 minutes by five other mushers as the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race headed for McGrath, 48 miles away.
Jonrowe and Cotter left at 6:06 p.m. after arriving at Nikolai within 20 minutes of each other. Jonrowe led the pack into Nikolai at 12:10 p.m., after traveling nearly 12 mph along the 93-mile stretch from Rohn Roadhouse.
