I enjoyed Don S. Robertson's clever letter and sense of humor (Forum Feb. 16) about the good old days of small town celebrations and parades, (Spanish Fork's Livestock Days and Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days).
Having just recently moved back to Utah after 25 years, it was great to be reminded of one of the many reasons I moved back.Strawberries and Strawberry Days bring back nostalgic memories. At 4 years of age I was the Strawberry Days reigning queen - crying all the way along the parade route because my crown kept falling off. And I recall later in my childhood spending many backbreaking days in the berry patch, picking the fruit for the great occasion of Strawberry Days and then spending my entire $3 (earned at 15 cents a case) on Monte Young's rides and shows. But it was worth it!
Robertson's letter, with his sense of humor, brought all of these things to mind (and more). It was fun to remember.
I've found that nowadays, when the bones begin to creak, it helps to have a sense of humor. Oh - to be young again!
