The Utah Board of Big Game Control will conduct its annual tour of the state next week to gather public input on proposed big game hunting rules, dates and caps for the 1995 seasons.

This will be the last tour for the Big Game Board, which under new legislation will be merged with the Wildlife Board to form one seven-member board later this year. The board will meet in executive session March 18 to finalize the 1995 season dates and rules. All meetings are open to the public.

Meetings will be: March 13 at Beaver High School, 50 North Main, in Beaver; March 14 at Star Hall, 177 East Center St., Moab; March 15 at North Sevier High School, 350 West 400 North, Salina; March 16 at Box Elder Jr. High School, 1800 S. 500 East, in Brigham City; and March 17 at 7 Salt Lake Community College, Redwood Road, Rampton Tech Building Lecture Hall. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.

The executive session will begin at 8 a.m. in the Home Arts Building.

The proposed plan for the deer hunt calls for a cap of 97,000 permits, which was the same number called for last year. Instead of going to a draw to dispense licenses, this year they will be sold over-the-counter.

The public meetings are an opportunity for sportsmen to hear about specific dates and quotas on all big game species for areas they hunt, and to offers their opinions on those plans to the five-member board.
