Our Dad, Ross Beck Davis, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 1995, at his home in Provo.
He was born June 30, 1913 to John Stoker and Mary Beck Davis in Spanish Fork, Utah.Dad married Beth Swalberg of Spanish Fork on April 12, 1938 and made loving homes in Spanish Fork, Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Casper, Wyoming, and Provo.
Together, they raised seven very unique children, DeAnn (Warren) Nielsen of Normal, Ill.; Brent (Karen) Davis of Calgary, Canada; Roger Davis of Salt Lake; John (Deanne) Davis of Bellingham, Wash.; Charles (Nancy) Davis of Moab, Utah; Mary Joe (Loren) Bishop of Linden; and Julie (Terry) Sherrill of Lincoln, Neb.
He is also sruvived by 36 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Dad will be remembered for his love of people. He didn't have a real hobby or selfish pastime, his friends and family were first. His lifelong membership in the LDS Church brought him personal joy in serving people in many ways. He was a branch president, Institute instructor, Scout master, district Scouter, High Councilman in several stakes, teacher and youth leader. Each was an opportunity to help, learn and love. At his death, he was serving as the executive secretary of the Provo Edgement Stake.
In 1984, Dad and Mom took some time from the family to serve as full time missionaries in the California San Jose Mission. This fulfilled a lifelong dream which he was not able to do when he was young. He was also a worker at the Provo Temple.
Dad's greatest love was Mom, his only sweetheart of nearly 57 years. His devotion to Mom made them a testment of endearing love, but an immovable force for us children to reckon with. His care and concern for Mom has never been questioned.
Dad, you made our lives better than we could have done alone. We love you too.
