Our tender, kind, and loving mother, grandmother, companion and friend to all, Meme Stratton, finished her earthly work and was peacefully called home on March 7, 1995 at 5:35 p.m. The call was precipitated by aggressive brain cancers diagnosed six days prior to her passing at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Meme, as she was lovingly known, was born April 11, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her parents, Junius (June) C. and Edith Peterson Christiansen, had three daughters, Meredith, Juna C. Washburn (deceased), and Shirley C. Greer, Provo, Utah.Meredith is the mother and valiant supporter of three beautiful children, Janice Stratton Abrams, Orem; H. Brent Stratton, Bountiful; and Keven J. Stratton, Orem. Each one of the children have blessed their mother's daily life with children, 15 in total: Jan Sasha and Sierra; Brent and Bette, Alisha, Brent, Jr., Scott, Tracy, Carrie, Robbie, Melissa, Sarah; Keven and Laurie K.J., Zackary, Staisha, Amber, Amanda. These grandchildren have been a source of great joy as Meme has loved and supported them.

Meme graduated from Provo High School. She married Herbert B. Stratton on December 22, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Along with raising her children, she accomplished many things: Her efforts and studies achieved a B.A. from Brigham Young University in Education, followed with a Master's Degree in Speech Therapy. She was employed for many years by the Alpine School District, first as a secretary for the elementary and secondary schools, and then for several years as a Special Education teacher for disabled children.

An active and devoted member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Meredith achieved the Young Women's Golden Gleaner Award, and served in many capacities throughout her life--most importantly, she sought out and quietly blessed the injured and troubled lives of those around her.

In addition to her family, church and work activities, she found time to support the family in various business activities. She worked in the planting, harvesting and selling of fruit from the family farm and provided tremendous assistance at Cascade Fairways, at Cascade Mortgage and as a real estate broker. In her service to the community she enjoyed a prominent role as part of the Orem Boosters organization which sponsored the Orem Summer Festival. She was enthusiastically interested in the development of Orem, as a family community, and would often attend City Council and political meetings to express her views relative to vital issues that would have an impact on the family and the community.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 1995, at 1 p.m. at the Canyon View 7th Ward Chapel, 1090 North 400 East, Orem. There will be a viewing at the Walker-Sanderson Mortuary, 646 East 800 North, Orem, on Friday evening, March 10th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. An additional viewing will be held from 12-1 p.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Stratton Family Plot at the Orem City Cemetery, 1500 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
