PacifiCorp, based in Portland, Ore., the parent company of Utah Power, said its subsidiary, PacifiCorp Holdings Inc., has agreed to acquire the 13 percent of telephone company Pacific Telecom Inc. that it doesn't already own for about $159 million in cash.

Under the agreement, a new subsidiary of PacifiCorp Holdings, Inc. will be merged with Pacific Telecom, based in Vancouver, Wash., and the holders of 5.3 million shares of Pacific Telecom stock not held by Pacific Holdings would receive $30 per share, up from the original offer made last year of $28 per share.Following the merger, Pacific Telecom would become an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of PacifiCorp.
