President Gordon B. Hinckley, center, is flanked by his two counselors, President Thomas S. Monson, left, and President James E. Faust. The three men will be formally sustained by members of the LDS faith this morning as the new First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the first session of the 165th Annual General Conference. Gathered in homes and more than 3,000 meetinghouses throughout the world, as well as in the Tabernacle and Assembly Hall on Temple Square, millions of Latter-day Saints will signify their support for the three leaders as the presiding quorum of the church. Utah members can tune in live to the four general sessions of the conference, to be carried on KSL-TV (Channel 5), KBYU-TV (Channel 11) and on KSL Radio (1160 AM) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today and Sunday. The general priesthood session, for male church members age 12 and older, begins at 6 tonight and will be carried by satellite to meeting sites throughout the world.
