LAWMAN PETER L. DOW DIES AT 91

Former Utah Highway Patrol superintendent Peter Lorenzo Dow, 91, died April 7, 1995, in Salt Lake City.

Dow's career in law enforcement spanned 38 years and included a stint as director of the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. He retired from the Salt Lake County sheriff's office in 1969. He belonged to numerous law-enforcement organizations.Dow was an outstanding high school and collegiate athlete. At Jordan High School, he earned 13 varsity letters in basketball, football, baseball and track. He made the All-Conference and All-America teams as a halfback for the University of Utah football team in 1926.

Dow enjoyed fishing, sports, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.

Services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, in Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 S. 1700 East. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour before the funeral Tuesday. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens.
