THE LAW OF LOVE

Hey, sweethearts: Your lovey-dovey actions just may be against the law.

Throughout the United States, occasionally wacky "love laws" remain on the books. Here are some of them, from "The Trenton Pickle Ordinance and Other Cockeyed Americana" by Dick Hyman:In Springfield, Mass., cab drivers can't make love in the front seats of their taxis while working.

In Connecticut, a man may not write love letters to a woman whose mother has forbidden him from seeing her.

In Portland, Maine, it is illegal to tickle a girl under the chin with a feather duster.

In Halethorpe, Md., it's against the law to kiss for more than a minute.

In ClEveland, weddings in bathing suits are forbidden.

And in Riverside, Calif., it is illegal to kiss unless both people wipe their lips with rose water.
