Theo McCann Merrill, 88, passed away April 10, 1995 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Theo was born August 24, 1906 at Nampa, Idaho to Ezra Jay and Mary Ann McCann Merrill.After graduating from the University of Idaho, Theo attended U.S.U. for one year. He married Kathryn Davis on April 13, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As newlyweds, they lived in Trude, Idaho, where Theo was General Manager for the Targhee Tie Company of Island Park, Idaho, and they both learned how to manage their dog team and sled.

In 1931, Theo joined the Brooklawn Creamery Company as a traveling auditor. During the next 44 years, he was promoted thru the offices of sales manager, secretary treasurer to General Manager and President.

Carrying out his interests in local civic affairs, he was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Bonneville Knife and Fork Club.

He played an important role in giving service to the youth through his 30 years as a member of Kiwanis Club. Theo was an active Boy Scout leader, and served as a district committee member and as an executive board member of the Salt Lake Council.

Theo served several terms as Trustee and Treasurer of the Three Fountain's Owners Association. As a public servant, he was President of the Silver Lake Water Company, Brighton, Utah for 11 terms.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he has a long, faithful record of church service: secretary for the High Priests Quorum, Scout Committeeman, Counselor to Bishop at Yalecrest 2nd Ward. He was the Murray Utah Stake Financial Clerk for 17 years.

Survived by his sister, Alice Sutton; son, Theo D. Merrill; daughter, Linda M. Budge; grandchildren, David Bowers, Mark Bowers, Katherine Brunner, Leslie Scott, Eric Bowers, Pennie Sue Huggins, Kimberly Ann Deutsh, and Heather Henry. Preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Davis Merrill and daughters, Jeannine M. Bowers and Kathryn Ann Merrill.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13, 1995, 12 Noon, at the Murray 24th Ward, 725 Three Fountain's Drive, Murray, Utah. Friends may call at the ward Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
