Effective Sunday, all Army and Air National Guard units in Utah will implement a four-day, 10-hour workweek.
Approved by the Utah National Guard Labor Management Partnership Council, the new schedule will be on a one-year trial basis with a midyear evaluation.Core business hours for Guard armories will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Employees will work a flexible 10-hour shift each day.
Officials say the schedule will provide flexible hours for Guard employees, give them additional time with their families and contribute to a state goal of reducing environmental pollution through reduced vehicle traffic.
Various federal, state and private organizations have already converted to a four-day, 10-hour workweek.
