DEATH: MADGE LEAVITT OLSEN HYDE

Madge Leavitt Olsen Hyde, 89 years of age, died April 10, 1995 at the home of her daughter in Orem, Utah, of causes incident to age.

She was a resident of Salt Lake City. She also lived in the Provo and Orem area for many years.She was born September 29, 1905 in Provo, Utah to William Israel and Mary Sperry Leavitt. She attended local schools and in her youth enjoyed playing the violin in the school orchestra. She attended BYU. She was employed at the Telephone Co. and also at the Ironton Steel Plant. She married Roy Kay Olsen on Christmas Eve in 1929 and they moved to the Provo Bench where they farmed until his death in 1953. After his death, she worked at the UVRMC in Provo.

She married Hugh H. Hyde on the 31st of March, 1962, and they made thier home in Salt Lake City. She worked at ZCMI for several years. She was an active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed many years of service. She was also a proud member of her D.U.P Camp.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh H. Hyde of Salt Lake City; two sons and one daughter, Rex L. Olsen of Bountiful; Greta and Walt Bandley of Orem; Gordon and Melody Olsen of Pleasant Grove; stepchildren, Carol and Tony Landaal of Salt Lake City; Margene Raynaud of Placentia, Calif.; Howard and Sharon Hyde of Paso Robles, Calif.; 32 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Leavitt, Sperry Leavitt, LaMont Leavitt; and sisters, Alta Peterson and Helen Nelson.

Fuenral services will be Thursday, April 13, 11 a.m., Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street. Viewing will be at the Larkin Mortuary of Salt Lake, 260 East South Temple, Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Thursday morning at the Berg Mortuary, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be held in the Provo City Cemetery.
