SATURDAY, May 13, the Run for the Kids sponsored by Children's Behavior Therapy Unit. A 5K for runners, wheel chairs and walkers and a one-mile for kids and 50-yarder for toddlers. Start 9 a.m. at Utah State Capitol Building. Racers get T-Shirt, boxed breakfast, forzen yogurt and other items. Clowns will be there to add to festivities. 581-0198.

LEAGUE. The Brigham City Softball Association is forming an adult summer slowpitch softball league, with the addition of a new double-header league with eight team maximum for Monday evenings. Cost is $300 per team and $475 for double-header teams. 723-8150. Play begins May 15.

TOURNAMENT. The Brigham City Softball Association will be holding its annual "Ice Breaker" softball tournament April 28-29 at Rees Pioneer Park. Double elimination is open to all men's slowpitch teams. Fee is $125 per team with added $15 for all non-sanctioned ASA teams. Entries close April 24. 723-8150.


TOURNAMENT. The Deseret Gym Hoop Fest 3-on-3 tournament will be April 20-22 at the gym. Applications available at Deseret Gym. Deadline is April 9. 359-3911.


WALLYBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is starting a drop-in league for all levels of play. This is on-going event. Informal leagues on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and Friday at 9 p.m. Free for members, $4 for non-members. Structured league on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with round-robin and double elimination tournaments every 6 weeks. 942-2582.

PRACTICAL SHOOTING. The Salt Lake Practical Shooting Association will hold monthly matches and practice sessions. Monthly matches will be held at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Hendricksen PMAA range at the East Canyon exit of I-80 in Parleys Canyon. Call 580-7836 or 942-8573.

REI CLINICS. On April 18, Canyonlands Field Institute will present a seminar for backpackers, mountain bikers river campers and others visiting southern Utah's canyons. Focus will be on access issues and ethical use of public lands . . . On April 25, cycling enthusiast Elliott Mott will present a clinic on recreational riding - rules of the road, etiquette, equipment clothing, tools, shifting and pre-ride preparation. DISABLE PROGRAMS. Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer recreation and leisure experiences to individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Adapted Sports is designed to meet the physical and social needs of each participant. The objectives are to teach fundamentals of sports with emphasis on fun, cooperation, fair play and team building skills. 561-0075.

RACQUETBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is offering a free drop-in racquetball class for players ages 8-14 on Fridays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. 942-2582.

WEIGHT LIFTING. Alta Canyon Sports is offering Teen Weight Training Workouts Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6 p.m., and on Saturday 10-11 a.m. Coaching provided. Fee is $1.50 for area residents, $2.50 for others. 942-2582.
