CONSUL PRESENTS GERMAN ORDER OF MERIT TO ATTORNEY WHO ASSISTS GERMANS IN UTAH, HELPS PROMOTE TRADE

Herwig Glander, honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany to Utah, was recently presented the German Order of Merit during a visit to Utah by the Honorable Ruprecht Henatsch, consul general residing in San Francisco.

A Salt Lake attorney who has served in the consup position since 1981, Glander was honored during a reception at the McCune Center in Salt Lake City.

Glander, who lives in Layton provides services to German citizens and works to foster trade relations between Utah and Germany.

While in Utah, Henatsch met with Salt Lake Mayor Deedee Corradini; Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt; President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor, and President James E. Faust, second counselor, in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He also met with President Rex Lee, students and professors at Brigham Young University; and with students, faculty and officials at Utah State University and Weber State University and Weber State University.

His contacts with students include those studying history and German.

Veronica Henatsch, wife of the consul general and a librarian by profession, and her husband also visited the Family History Library of the LDS Church.
