Y. hosts tuneup track meet

Several Western Athletic Conference teams will compete in this weekend's Clarence Robison Invitational Track Meet as a tuneup for next month's WAC Championships at BYU.

Men's and women's teams from Utah, Colorado State, Wyoming and BYU will be joined at the meet by the College of Southern Idaho, Ricks and the Cheetah Track Club from Canada.

The meet begins at noon Thursday. Friday's competition begins at 2:30 p.m. Field events begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and running events begin at noon.

The Cougars host a quad meet May 6 and then host the WAC Championships May 17-20.

Weber State

Women netters set for 'Sky

After a successful performance at their own invitational last weekend, the Weber State women's tennis team is preparing to defend its Big Sky title at the Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship Friday through Sunday at Montana State.

Weber State won the team trophy last Saturday at the Pepsi Wildcat Invitational and freshman Ande Tulp was selected as the tournament MVP. The Wildcats posted 5-0 wins over Idaho and Colorado State and a 3-2 win over New Mexico State.

'Cats honored for academics

Twenty-eight Weber State indoor track and field student athletes were awarded Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors last quarter during their season of competition.

Sophomore Rob Christen (American Fork, Utah) had the highest grade point average among the men (3.82 GPA) while freshman Stefani Hansen (Salt Lake City, Utah) led the women's team with a 3.94 GPA.
