DEATH: JENNIE B. HOLLIST

Beloved mother, grandmother, Jennie Brown Hollist, 87, passed away Monday, April 17, 1995 at Davis Hospital in Layton.

She was born January 31, 1908 in Parker, Idaho, the daughter of Joseph Guernsey and Mary Ann Gooch Brown. She married Orson LeRoy Hollist, September 26, 1935 in Salt Lake Temple. He died August 25, 1961. She attended school in Parker, Idaho, Brigham City, Albion, Idaho and BYU. She taught school in Idaho and in Davis County schools for nearly 20 years.Surviving are four sons, five daughters and a son-in-law, J. Taylor and Suzanne Hollist, Oneonta, New York; Craig K. and Martha Rushforth, Kaysville; Vance C. and Nancy Pace, Ogden; Robert L. and Elna Hollist, Idaho Falls; Gerald S. and Alice Giauque, Flagstaff, Ariz.; Jeffrey O. and Carla Hollist, Kaysville; David T. and Dawnell Tingey, Corvalis, Oregon; K. Rand and Marla Hollist, Kaysville; William E. and Karen Moyes, Layton; Charles P. and Jolynn Bean, Fruit Heights; 45 grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Ricks Brown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rella Mae Hollist Moyes and a grandson, Alan D. Rushforth. Jennie has missed her two brothers and three sisters very much since their passing.

Her joy has been serving her family and church. Besides raising her own ten children, she raised Orson's brother, Dean and an Indian student, Alphonsus Beakes for five years. She was named `Mother of the Year' for Davis County in 1968 and first runner up for the State of Utah. After retiring from teaching, she was able to do genealogy. She co-authored a book about her great-grandfather. Member of the DUP and was a temple ordinance worker for 10 years.

Funeral services Saturday, April 22, 1995, 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Rd. with Bishop L. Deane Smith officiating. Friends may call Friday at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main from 6-8 p.m. and at the church, 9:30-10:45 a.m., Saturday. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
