VANDALS DAMAGE BUBBLE OVER AM.F. PUBLIC POOL

Vandals caused nearly $3,000 worth of damage to a bubble over the American Fork swimming pool during the Easter weekend.

American Fork police dispatchers said one or more individuals climbed over a fenced enclosure and crawled onto the roof of the American Fork City Fitness Center, where the pool is located, Saturday evening. The culprit used a sharp device to make two incisions in the plexiglass bubble. The incisions, which were almost 18 inches long, were in the shape of a cross, dispatchers said.

Pool officials didn't report the damage until Monday morning. The damage did not force closure of the pool because the pool is normally closed Sunday. Maintenance crews repaired the damage Monday, and the pool opened later that day.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call American Fork police dispatchers, 763-3020.
